ESB crews are continuing in their efforts to restore power to those homes and businesses who remain without supply following Storm Amy.
Around 7,000 customers were without power today – and many are facing the real possibility of being without a supply for another day or two at least.
“ESB Networks crews have been working in challenging conditions to restore power to homes, farms and businesses across Co Donegal since Storm Amy made landfall on Friday.” a spokesperson for ESB told the Donegal News this afternoon.
“As of this morning there were approximately 7,000 customers without power in the county.
“Work to restore power to these customers is continuing throughout the day and we hope to have power restored to many customers by tonight.
“However, some customers in small pockets of Donegal may be without power into the early part of next week.”
Several homes and businesses are also without a water supply.
Uisce Éireann said crews have been working throughout the weekend in an effort to assess and restore supply.
They say the focus is on Donegal and in particular, Inishowen, Lifford, Convoy, Raphoe and Castlefin where the storm had the greatest impact.
Over the weekend, it was estimated that 4,000 homes may be without water and crews were working to restore supply as quickly as possible.
