ESB crews working to restore power for Donegal customers

It hasn’t been a great start to the New Year for some households and businesses in Inishowen, West Donegal and in the Donegal Town area who are without power today.

Strong winds battered parts of the county on New Year’s Eve and heavy rainfall resulted in a lot of surface water on roads, making driving conditions particularly dangerous in some areas.

A power outage left 68 customers without power in the Carndonagh area for much of New Year’s Eve. Power was restored shortly after 1pm.

An outage in Donegal Town was reported shortly after 5am this morning, leaving 57 customers without power. It’s hoped to have that problem resolved before tea-time.

Meanwhile ten customers have been impacted by a power fault in Derrybeg. The problem was reported at lunchtime today and ESB Networks hope to have it resolved by 4pm today.
