Finn Valley AC’s Mark English has broken the Irish 800 metres record once again.
English produced a time of 1:43.37 to finish second at the Gyulai István Memorial, a World Athletics gold level meet in Budapest, Hungary.
It’s a significant lowering of his own Irish record of 1:43.92 as he sets off to altitude ahead of next month’s World Championships in Tokyo.

The race was won by Kenya’s Leban Chepkwony in 1:42.96 with Yanis Meziane of France third in 1:43.71.
That time for Mark is also an automatic Q for next year’s European Championships in Birmingham.
