LETTERKENNY athlete Mark English has just qualified for the men’s 800 metre semi-final at the Rio Olympics.

English finished comfortably in third place in this afternoon’s first heat in a time of 1:46.40 to guarantee his place in Sunday’s race.

After missing out on the London Olympics, by .17 of a second, he hopes to qualify for the final in what is a hugely competitive event.
