THE EMERGENCY Department at Letterkenny General Hospital is under pressure again, with members of the public being asked not to attend unless absolutely necessary.
A statement has been issued by the Saolta University Health Care Group this afternoon (Tuesday) stating that the Emergency Department at LGH is “extremely busy”. They have urged people to attend the ED as a last resort.
The statement read: “The Emergency Department at Letterkenny General Hospital is extremely busy again today (February 24) with a very high number of attendances.

Members of the public are reminded to keep the Emergency Department for emergencies and to contact their GP or GP Out of Hours services in the first instance.”

It concluded: “Patients with minor ailments or who are not emergencies can expect to experience long delays as priority will need to be given to other patients who need emergency care.”
