ELEVEN motorists across Donegal Division were arrested over the Easter bank holiday for driving under the influence of drink or drugs.
Gardai had warned that they would be ramping up patrols on the county’s roads over the Bank Holiday weekend in a bid to crackdown on drink and drug-driving offences.
Eight arrests were made for drink-driving related offences, and three for drug-driving across Donegal Division between Friday and Monday.
The number of arrests for drink driving are down slightly on those from 2022 when 11 motorists were arrested. This compared with five the year previous.
Drug-driving arrests also dropped marginally this year compared to 2022, when five motorists were arrested for the offence.
Gardaí have again appealed to motorists to never get behind the wheel of a vehicle if they have consumed alcohol or taken drugs.
