Fianna Fáil look set to take the first two seats in Letterkenny with the tally figures predicting that Cllr Donal Mandy Kelly will exceed the quota on the first count.
With the quota predicted to be at around 1,603, Cllr Kelly, according to the tallies, will get 1,791 first preference votes.
He will be followed by his party colleague Cllr Ciaran Brogan on 1,380 with 100% Redress candidate Tomás Seán Devine sitting on 1,259.
Sitting councillors Michael McBride and Jimmy Kavanagh also appear to have done very well.
Outgoing council Mayor, Cllr Kevin Bradley is among the councillors who will be depending on picking up transfers and No. 2s as he polled 717 first preference votes according to the tallies.
It means tomorrow’s count promises to be a fascinating process with the final few seats up for grabs.
Interestingly, in 2019, four of the candidates, Kevin Bradley, Donal Coyle, Manus Mandy Kelly and Gerry McMonagle were elected on the final count with McMonagle helped by transfers from his party running mate Adrian Glackin.
Aontú candiate Mary T Sweeney was among those to just lose out five years ago. She polled 856 first preference votes in 2019. This time around, the tally figures have her on 760.
In all 18 candidates are battling for the seven seats in Letterkenny.
