The much celebrated Éigse Sheagháin Bháin Mhic Meanman is taking place in Fintown from Friday 17th to Sunday 19 November.
Aodh Mac Ruairí, Oifigeach Pleanála Teanga na Gaeltachta Láir will officially open the éigse in Áras Sheagháin Bháin on Friday at 8.30p.m.
This will be followed by Léacht na hÉigse titled ‘Teanga, Dúchas agus Nádúr i scribhinní Sheagháin Bháin Mhic Meanman’ which will be delivered by Donnchadh Ó Baoill of Údarás na Gaeltachta.
Afterwards Donnchadh Ó Baoill will launch the book ‘Na Cruacha Gorma, Inné agus Inniu’ which was written by an Dr. Oirmh. Pádraig Ó Baoigill who hails from Finntown.
On Saturday 18th at 9p.m. a night of music and craic will be held in Áras Sheagháin Bháin at 9p.m. The mc at this event will be Fergus Mac Aoidh. The éigse continues on Sunday with Mass in the local St. Colmcille Church at 11a.m. The celebrant will be an Dr. Oirmh. Pádraig Ó Baoighill and this mass will be broadcast live on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta. Seaghán Bán is interred in the adjoining cemetery and prayers will offered at his grave afterwards.
