Eight is great for Burt’s Paul Burns

Burt goalkeeper Paul Burns celebrated winning the Munster cup for the eighth time on Saturday but he believes this one is the sweetest as Burt won the title for the 40th time.

The shot stopper and his team defeated Setanta by 3-16 to 1-18 in O’Donnell Park to take a first title since 2018 and Burns couldn’t hide his delight.

“This has been coming for this team for a long time and I’m glad it happened today. Those young lads stepped up there, Conor (Gartland), Liam (McKinney), Callum Purves then Dara Grant reeling in the years, they were unbelievable.

“Training has been up big time since the county men have come back in and the younger boys have pushed us on. There’s only five or six of us over 30 then everyone else is under 26 so it’s brilliant to see.
