Efforts stepped up to protect historic Donegal church

A special fundraising event is being organised to help protect the future of one of the oldest buildings in Donegal.

Constructed in 1622, St. Lugadius’ Church in Lifford is one of the oldest surviving buildings in the county.

Considerable essential urgent work has been identified as being necessary to ensure the continued existence of the church, which is still in use today.

A special fundraising night featuring performances from Leslie Matthews, The Mood Swings & William Sayers will be held at Lifford Old Courthouse on March 1.

All proceeds will be donated to the Church Restoration Fund and tickets are now available to buy.

This performance is one of a number of fundraisers which will be taking place throughout the year to raise funds for the church.
