Education Minister opens new modular buildings at Errigal College

Minister for Education, Norma Foley, T.D., officially opened Errigal College’s new modular buildings in Windyhall, Letterkenny today.

Earlier, the Minister was in Buncrana where she visited Scoil Íosagáin.

She will also pay a visit to St. Eunan’s College in Letterkenny while she will also take time to meet some of the Fianna Fáil councillors and party candidates who are contesting the upcoming local elections.

The new two storey building which the Minister officially opened today at Errigal College, was completed earlier this year. It consists of seven classrooms and three SEN spaces. The single storey consists of three classrooms.

All classrooms are designed to be multi-functional and cater to various subject and learning disciplines. They have been kitted out with state-of-the-art equipment to support the learning and teaching within the classroom.

The Minister performs the official opening of the new school facilities at Errigal College.

Speaking at the opening, Donegal ETB Director of Schools Dr Martin Gormley said: “I acknowledge the support of the Minister and the Department of Education officials in bringing this project to fruition.

“The enhanced facilities will further improve the teaching and learning environment for our students and staff. Donegal ETB and Errigal College thank the Minister for her continued support towards the further development of the school.”

Principal of Errigal College, Mr. Danny McFadden said, “We are delighted to have the Minister here today, to officially open our new building.

“Today was an opportunity for us to showcase our wonderful students and school. We promote equality of opportunity for all, unrestricted by background, ability, language or gender. We know that opportunity creates success, and we are fortunate to have the expertise and facilities to provide opportunities to all our students”.

Minister for Education, Norma Foley T.D. said, “It is an honour to be here today to officially open Errigal College’s new modular building comprising ten classrooms and SEN spaces. I know the opening of these fine facilities will see students continue to thrive.” she added, “I want to thank all the staff for the wonderful work that they do every day.”
