Easter Garda patrols continue

GARDAÍ are continuing a number of high visibility checkpoints around Donegal this morning.

Drivers are being urged to be vigilant on the roads today, Easter Bank Holiday Monday, following a number of arrests over the weekend.

Gardaí have been focusing on the detection of key lifesaver offences which include speeding, drink/drug driving and the non-wearing of seat-belts.

Ballyshannon Gardaí issued a number of Fixed Charge Penalty Notices at their checkpoints for offences including speeding, worn/defective tyres and no tax (vehicle also seized).

Letterkenny Roads Policing unit out on patrol when they detected a driver who is disqualified from driving. The driver was arrested and then charged to appear in Court.

A garda spokesperson said: “If you are going out this weekend, do not drive while under the influence of alcohol/drugs.”
