A LOCAL councillor has once again voiced frustration over the lack of bus shelters in East Donegal.
With the issued being raised repeatedly by Cllr Patrick McGowan, an agreement was reached last year to provide new bus shelters in several towns, including Castlefin, Convoy and Killygordon.
However, work has yet to commence.
At last week’s Lifford-Stranorlar Municipal District meeting, Cllr McGowan expressed his disappointment over the delayed works.
“I am very disappointed at the length of time it is taking,” he said.
“They are urgently needed.”
Comparing Donegal to neighbouring counties, Cllr McGowan said the county is lagging behind in the provision of new bus shelters.
“Our neighbouring counties all have new bus shelters,” he said.
“They seem to be years ahead of us, they are not planning them, they are actually built.
“I just don’t know why we are so far behind; they haven’t even been started yet.
“Normally we are well ahead of the pack.”
