An Grianán’s director, Patricia McBride, said the series of performances, entitled Out To Lunch: Theatre, is about giving a platform to new work and young artists.
“This year An Grianán and the festival are working together to co-commission a new piece of work by the actor Frankie McCafferty. Frankie has written a couple of plays before, but this will be the first commissioned in his native Donegal.

“We’re at an early stage of commission with him, so what he is actually approaching it as a way of showing the process of writing a new piece,” she said.
Ms McBride said Frankie has a first draught almost ready, but he is going to take sections of that, which he will showcase at Out To Lunch. “The story is about two brothers who live on the outside of society, shall we say, and the title of the play is Between The Night and Morrow, which is a line from the famous William Allingham poem.

She said: “Andrew (Galvin) is going to approach his performance in a similar way for the premiere of his second play, The Fool and the Moon.

“The Agony and The Ecstasy of Steve Jobs by Mike Daisey, actually has been premiered in the Cathedral quarter festival, but it’s totally new for us so we are looking forward to present it to our lunchtime visitors during the Earagail Arts Festival,” she said.
