€77,000 for new EV charging points at Curragh Athletic FC grounds

CURRAGH Athletic FC is to receive funding of €77,000 which will go towards the installation of EV charging points at the club’s grounds in Killygordon.

The funding has been awarded  under the All-Ireland Shared Island Sports Club EV Charging Scheme, which is part of the €250,000 new development in 2026.

It was announced today by the Department of Transport and administered by Pobal, and will support the installation of EV charging points at the club’s Sports and Community Facility in Killygordon.

The project will enhance community amenities while supporting the transition to cleaner and more sustainable transport in the Finn Valley area.

Welcoming the announcement, Deputy Pat ‘the Cope’ Gallagher said the investment highlights the important role local sports clubs play as community hubs, particularly in rural areas, and commended Curragh Athletic F.C. for its proactive and forward-looking approach.

The funding announcement has also been welcomed by local councillor Patrick McGowan.
