THREE Donegal projects have been allocated funding totalling €750,000 under the 2023 Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
Laghey, Tory Island and Rosnakill have will each receive €250,000 for a wide range of regeneration projects.
Laghey’s allocation is for the development of Laghey Community Park to provide a dedicated outdoor recreational amenity and play space.
The funding for Tory Island has been earmarked to improve the thermal performance and accessibility of An Club/Club Soísialta, which is the main social centre on the island.
The funding approved for Rosnakill will be used to repurpose the existing attic space of Rosnakill Tourism and Activity Centre, and provide a suite of traditional multi-purpose rooms including meeting rooms, education and training rooms with associated ancillary services.
Welcoming the announcement, Donegal minister, Charlie McConalogue said he is delighted that three Donegal projects are among the 83 projects that are benefitting from the overall investment of over €20 million.
“The communities in Laghey, Tory Island and Rosnakill are the main drivers behind these initiatives, and when these projects are finished, they are sure to breathe new life into their respective localities.
“It’s important that these projects are supported and I commend those involved with the Donegal projects for their efforts.
“I wish them well as they embark on the next stages and look forward to seeing them completed,” the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine added.
