€4,400 raised for 16 charities

LETTERKENNY man Tom Giblin has raised a whopping €4,471 for local charities as a result of his Christmas fundraiser.

Beginning his fundraising mission in the late 70s, Tom has held a number of small fundraising events over the years.

Launching his Live Animal Nativity Stable for the first time in 2022, Tom pulled out all the stops last Christmas by adding a Christmas lights garden to the display.

Acquiring his first animal thirteen years ago, little did he know what lay ahead of him.

From a miniature Shetland pony, to goats, pigs and donkeys, all that was left to add to the scene was a life size Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus.

Tom raised the money through I Donate, Revolut and a bucket collection on site.

By holding a cheque presentation in Arena 7 at the beginning of the month, Tom was able to present funds to 16 very worthy charities.

The money raised from this major fundraiser was equally shared across Tom’s chosen beneficiaries.

These included St Vincent De Paul Letterkenny, Children’s Hospital Crumlin/ Temple Street, Pieta House North West, Jack & Jill Foundation, Little Blue Heroes, Irish Wheelchair Association, Bumbleance Donegal, MS Ireland/ Donegal, Little Angels School, St. Bernadette’s Special School, Donegal Hospice, Donegal Down Syndrome, Blue Stack Special Needs Foundation, Blood Bikes North West, Donegal Donkey Sanctuary and the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association.
