€4.5m granted to improve Donegal’s walking and cycling infrastructure 

OVER 30 projects in Donegal are set to benefit from €4.5m in active travel grants to improve walking and cycling infrastructure in 2023.

This substantial investment will fund approximately 36 Active Travel projects in Donegal.

This includes the development of segregated cycle lanes and widened footpaths, new walking and cycling bridges, and new pedestrian crossings in towns and areas close to schools.

Construction is expected on dozens of front of school treatments throughout 2023.

The projects aim have a positive impact on the health and well-being of Donegal residents, making communities safer and more accessible for walkers and cyclists.
