€38,000 allocated to 45 Donegal sporting organisations

Forty-five sporting organisations in Donegal will receive a total of €38,000 under the Return to Sport – Sports Club Development Fund 2022, Donegal Sports Partnership has announced.
Speaking about the latest allocation of local funding, Donegal Sports Partnership Coordinator, Myles Sweeney, explained that the small grant awards are aimed at supporting sports clubs in their efforts to deliver sport and physical activity following the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The funding approved is directed towards costs such as sports equipment, venue hire, training, and education,” he commented.
“We’d like to thank all the clubs for taking the time to complete the online application forms – we received over 60 in total. To date, approximately €38,000 has been awarded which is an important investment for grassroots sport. Hopefully, a further round of funding for community-related projects would be presented in early 2023. Investment of funding into our communities is vital to maintaining and sustaining sport in Donegal and ensuring that our communities can continue to avail of the benefits of sport and physical activity,” Mr. Sweeney added.
Eighteen applications were received under the Coaching and Volunteering Fund, and applicants will be contacted individually in early January 2023 in regard to this.
