Five Donegal sports clubs have been allocated a total of €300,000 for the upgrading of their facilities under the CLÁR Programme.
The clubs set to receive €50,000 each are CLG Chloich Cheann Fhaola, Castlefin Celtic FC, Glenswilly CLG, CLG Malainn, CLG Ghleann Fhinne and Gleneely Colts FC Sports and Leisure Club.
Welcoming the allocations, Donegal minister, Charlie McConalogue, said: “This is great news for all five clubs, and this significant amount of funding will assist them in improving their facilities.”
“Sports clubs are such an important part of communities. So, it’s good to see the time, effort, and energy the volunteers put into their clubs being rewarded with this new funding. The role of the volunteer is crucial in all clubs, and what they do makes their areas a better place,” the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine added.
“Investing in Our Rural Future is a key priority of Fianna Fáil in Government, and we want to ensure that local sports clubs, that are at the heart of pride of place, community and belonging, are supported.”
The funding is being provided as part of the CLÁR (Ceantair Laga Árd-Riachtanais) programme funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development and forms part of the Government’s ambitious new five-year policy for rural Ireland, Our Rural Future.
