€114,500 in funding for Donegal towns and villages

FOUR Donegal towns and villages are set to benefit from a further €115,500 in funding to help them adjust to Covid-19 restrictions, under the Accelerated Measure of the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.

This funding will enable Letterkenny, Downings, Ardara, and Frosses to implement measures that will encourage people into towns and villages to shop and socialise, while adhering to public health guidelines.

Deputy Joe McHugh said the funding will assist businesses and communities to adapt to the specific ongoing challenges being posed by Covid-19, such as social distancing and catering for outdoor events.

“The funding approved will be used for adapting outdoor spaces for social gatherings, for the hosting of outdoor events; marketing campaigns to entice people back into our towns and villages; and investment in developing or improving the online presence of towns and villages; to make these towns and villages more welcoming,” said McHugh.

 

Towns and Villages with a population less than 10,000

Downings To improve the visual amenity of the village and undertake a promotion campaign €40,000.00
Ardara To improve accessibility and appearance of Ardara Village with landscaping, awnings, seating & all weather picnic area €25,000.00
Frosses To provide a temporary covering at the Frosses Community Hall, provision of bike stands, outdoor sockets and seating €9,500.00

 

Towns and Villages with a population more than 10,000

Letterkenny Provision of 2 public seating platforms for Main street (Parklets) €40,000.00
