LADY Luck has shone on Raphoe for the second time in four months, this time delivering a massive €500,000.
One lucky punter scooped the cash via Quick Pick ticket bought from Barclay’s Newsagent in the town.
The money was won in the EuroMillions Plus draw where the numbers were 02, 12, 33, 42, 44.
The win comes hot on the heels of a €50,000 scratchcard sold in Raphoe. The card was purchased from Coyle’s Centra in November.
Speaking after being informed that the half a million Euro ticket was sold in his store, owner of Barclay’s Newsagents, Jim Barkley, said he was over the moon for his lucky customer.
Mr Barkley added that given the nature of the trade he gets, he suspects the winner could be local.
“We’re absolutely over the moon. We are a small community-based shop in the heart of Raphoe with a very loyal customer base so we’re just thrilled that one of these people has won the half a million Euro prize.
“We’re just eight miles from the border of Northern Ireland but we get very little passing trade so we are confident that it could be a local customer. The whole town is absolutely buzzing this morning and no doubt that we’ll have a lot of people in the store to check their tickets in the hope that they have won the half a million euro.”
