Dungloe students do themselves proud

Both junior certificate students from Dungloe who attend the Foróige Rosses Neighbourhood Youth Programme in Dungloe were National Finalists at the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) Youth Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2011.
The dynamic duo target parties, anniversaries, special occasions and anyone who likes home-baked cakes with their products and have also developed a Valentine’s Day special range for men and women. They make personalised decorative cakes at a cost of €25 each and a tray bake of luxury carmel squares, among other delights, at a cost of €12 per tray.

Their business slogan demonstrates the love and attention they give to their business – “We put the Love in Oven Glove”. The ‘Oven Glove Bakery’ had total sales for the year of €1,805 generating a net profit of €588. The girls would like to qualify as chefs in the future and run a successful restaurant and nightclub in Spain.
The Dungloe bakers were among 1,000 students who participated in the NFTE Programme, managed and run by Foróige. The programme runs throughout the academic year in over 50 sites in Dublin, Limerick, Tipperary, Donegal and Belfast.
