Declan Bonner’s team started brightly and established an early lead thanks to scores from Ryan McHugh and Jamie Brennan.

However, Dublin soon took control and by the 33rd minute, they were six points ahead.

Patrick McBrearty replied with a free, before Jamie Brennan hit the post with a goal chance, and Niall Scully got the last point of the half.

Donegal were much improved in the third quarter and reduced their deficit to one point with 18 minutes remaining, with Patrick and Stephen McBrearty, as well as Jamie Brennan to the fore.

However, they missed a few chances and couldn’t get back on level terms. Dublin pushed clear in the closing exchanges to resign Donegal to a third NFL defeat on the trot.
