DSP invite applications for funding ahead of National Bike Week

As preparations get underway for 2023 National Bike Week which takes place in May, Donegal Sports Partnership is inviting applications to support a range of participation-focused cycling events being held locally over the eight-day period.
Looking ahead to 2023 Bike Week, which runs from Saturday, May 14th to Sunday, May 22nd, Donegal Sports Partnership’s Community Sports Development Officer, Karen Guthrie, said: “We are encouraging community groups, disability groups, cycling groups, workplace organisations, primary schools and secondary schools to get involved and be part of National Bike Week. New groups are also being invited to make an application.”
The funding allocated to Donegal Sports Partnership by the National Transport Authority will cover a range of events including family fun days, community cycles, come ‘n try cycles, bike maintenance events, ladies’ cycles, treasure hunts and club spins with support towards bike hire, refreshments, promotional materials, spot prizes, and instructor and tutor costs.
“The growth in the number of people taking up cycling is continuing and that’s great to see. It’s a low impact way of engaging in physical activity and is suitable for all levels of fitness. Once again, the emphasis on National Bike Week here in Donegal will be on fun and participation,” the sports community development officer commented.
The closing date for submissions is Friday, April 7th at 5 pm.
Funding applications and criteria are now available on Donegal Sports Partnership’s website:
