Drugs worth more than €3,000 seized in weekend operation

A MAJOR policing operation across Donegal Division at the weekend led to the seizure of cocaine and cannabis with a market value of €3,150.

Detector dog with Revenue Customs Service, Alfie, along with his handler, was at garda checkpoints across the Division at the weekend, as part of Operation Tara.

As part of this operation, 10 people were detected in possession of controlled drugs. One male was arrested and interviewed on suspicion of cultivating cannabis. He was interviewed and released pending analysis of the seized items and submission of a file to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

A second male was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after failing to stop for Gardaí. Cocaine and cannabis with a market value of €3,150 was also seized during the operation.
