Irish Language Plan Coordinator Bairbre Uí Chathail said, “This is an opportunity for people to have a chat and find out the advantages of Irish for their business and to find out about the various schemes and supports available to them.

“This includes a business support scheme that can give up to 50 per cent funding for signage, marketing and branding or translating their website and making it bilingual.”

Lionra support

Bairbre said that Líonra will be there to offer support and talk people through the process.

The Foras na Gaeilge Business Support Scheme offers up to €3,000 a year in supports, businesses can then re-apply then the following year.

“So if you set out a plan to develop Irish over a couple of years, you can get a lot of support from Foras na Gaeilge to do that,” said Bairbre.

The GRADAIM awards also recognise businesses who are committed to promoting Irish. The three categories include the businesses signage, marketing and branding or service to customers.
