Drivers in Donegal asked to be extra careful amid summer-like weather

WITH larger volumes of traffic on our roads due to the excellent weather, the holiday atmosphere, and seemingly perfect driving conditions, gardaí in Donegal are asking motorists not to take risks.

We are being advised to slow down, wear our seatbelts, and never drink and drive. The worrying trend, relating to drug driving, shows no sign of abating.

Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit last night arrested a motorist on suspicion of drug driving following a test for the presence of cocaine. The sample was taken after the driver had been pulled over for speeding.

Also, gardaí in Carndonagh seized a car that had no insurance, NCT cert or motor tax. Two tyres on the vehicle were deemed to be unroadworthy.
