Driver caught travelling 66kph over speed limit

Gardaí have urged motorists to slow down this bank holiday weekend after a motorist was caught travelling 66kph over the speed limit.

Gardaí from Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit detected a vehicle travelling at 166KPH in a 100KPH speed zone in the early hours of this morning.

The driver also had no insurance and was arrested and charged.

A Court appearance will follow.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said, “We appeal to all road users to slow down and to stay safe on the roads this Bank Holiday Weekend and always.”
