Gweedore United 2-1 Letterkenny Rovers
Darren ‘Doxy’ Ferry scored twice as Gweedore United inflicted a first league defeat of the season on Letterkenny Rovers on Wednesday night.
Rovers were crowned league champions last Sunday, and they took the lead when Lee McMonagle scored in the 11th minute.
The away side could have doubled their lead but Oran Craig made a great save from Rory Gallagher.
Gweedore levelled matters in the 55th minute when Ciaran McFadden crossed for Ferry to score.
The experienced midfielder then grabbed the winner in the 79th minute after good play from Ronan O’Donnell.
Gweedore conclude the league campaign with a derby against Glenea on Sunday, while Rovers face Cappry on the same day.
