Downings came out on top in this dramatic battle at Páirc Naomh Fionnan on Saturday between two sides looking to avoid the drop in the Brian McCormick Sports & Leisure Division 1.
The away side were well in control in the first half as they scored seven unanswered points before Cloughaneely got off the mark, but Johnny McGroddy’s free and third point of the game made it 0-8 to 0-3 at half-time.

Downings had a six point lead before a five minute spell that saw John Fitzgerald get the green flag raised three times with an incredible hat-trick as Cloughaneely went two points up.
