Downings dominate to take Junior ‘A’ title

Downings ladies dominated from start to finish to take a convincing win in the Junior ‘A’ final over Naomh Pádraig Uisce Chaoin in O’Donnell Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Mevagh side raced into a nine point lead in the opening ten minutes thanks to goals from Shannon McGroddy and Denise Doherty and they led by 2-7 to 0-4 at the break.

Another goal each for McGroddy and Doherty six minutes after the restart put them further ahead, while Caoimhe McLaughlin and Lauren McBride also hit three pointers as Downings took a big win and move up to Intermediate.
