Sean MacCumhaill’s 2-14 Red Hugh’s 1-11
Having lost in their previous two Junior B final appearances, it was a case of third time lucky for MacCumhaill’s as they got the better of Red Hughs in Sunday’s final in Lifford.
Senior county player Katie Dowds was the star player for the winners with a brilliant display of point scoring, particularly from frees.
She ended with eight points – six of those scores coming from frees, on a day when MacCumhaill’s just had too much for their near neighbours.
And while Dowds will take much of the plaudits, there were a number of fine performances from other players in the green and white which helped ensure they were able to celebrate a success that given the stature of this proud club, is long overdue.
Erinn Gallen and captain Sinead Gallagher played well at midfield and the forward line, in which Rebecca Campbell was a real livewire, also contributed well.
