AFTER a successful show of Brian Friel short acts, Donegal Youth Theatre returns to the Balor Theatre this week with an original play – ‘Last Stand.’
Written by local man Andrew McNulty, it is set in a youth community project “somewhere” and tells the story of a new youth peer-to-peer education initiative, run and managed by young people for young people.
All the young people are there for various reasons and all have their unique expectations as to the outcome of the programme. However, these hopes and expectations change suddenly as they begin to discover the truth behind why they are there.
The play explores the themes of letting go and asks the question ‘what are we letting go of?’.
“It is about transitioning and moving on, realising all your fears and wrong doings and to discover what it was we are afraid of,” Mr McNulty explained.
“Come join us and support these young people and see the raw talent on stage and you will not be disappointed.”
Written by Mr McNulty and directed by James Lawne, ‘Last Stand’ is an original play for Donegal Youth Theatre end of year showcase and features some of the county’s finest and brightest young actors.
The show will run for two nights on Friday 4 and September 5, in the Balor Arts Centre, starting at 8 p.m.
