Dáire Ó Baoill has been voted as the GAA.ie Player of the Week for his performance at the weekend.
The Gaoth Dobhair clubman scored 2-1 as Donegal defeated Derry by six points at Celtic Park in the Ulster Championship quarter-final on Saturday evening.
Ó Baoill hit a point in the first half before he was played through by Ryan McHugh and with Derry ‘keeper Odhran Lynch out of his net, he lobbed the Oak Leaf man for the first goal of the game.
In the second half, another long kick out from Shaun Patton saw Niall O’Donnell flick the ball on to Ó Baoill and in similar fashion to the first, he looped the ball towards goal and while Lynch got a touch this time, he couldn’t prevent the ball from hitting the net which set Donegal on their way to making the Ulster semi-final where they will face Tyrone at Celtic Park this Sunday.
The Donegal star received 3, 718 votes on the GAA’s Official Instagram page which put him ahead of Mayo’s Ryan O’Donoghue (2,157) and Galway’s Rob Finnerty (1,895).
