DONEGAL man, Conor McGinty, will battle it out for one of six chairs in the latest round of the X Factor, to be televised this weekend.
The Carrigans singer will be performing at Wembley Stadium in a fight for one of the hotly sought after six chairs in the next round of the hugely popular show. If successful, the 21-year-old will win a spot in Judges’ houses, the final stage in the competition before the live shows.
Conor has been receiving huge online praise since his X Factor audition, ‘Say Something’ by Great Big World aired a few weeks ago.
Describing his experience to date as “fantastic”, Conor said: “Boot camp was crazy and tough, but it all worked out.
“So far, it has all been great, the experience, the contacts, it has been amazing and I really do feel ready.”
The well-known Northwest man is a familiar face around many venues where he has been gigging for a number of years.
A huge fan of the show, the part-time Boots employee has confessed he has watched the series from day one, admiring those who auditioned, and hoping to have the same opportunity one day.
Admitting the process has been challenging, he said: “For me, it feels like a long time coming.
“It’s been tough and there have been times when I have thought maybe it is not for me. But it has all worked out and the hard work has paid off.”
There are 12 boys left in the competition and six places at Judges’ houses, which means Conor has a 50/50 chance of proceeding on.
Meanwhile, there has been a huge reaction to his cover of the classic Irish ballad, ‘Home to Donegal’, a video of which is available to view on Conor McGinty Music on Facebook.
Although busy, the hardworking performer has been taking some time out of his hectic schedule to make a number of special visits, including calling in to the Foyle Hospice to meet and perform for the patients and wonderful staff.
