By Dionne Meehan

DONEGAL’S Layla Doherty has arrived in Vietnam ahead of the Miss Earth 2023 pageant.

Crowned Miss Earth Ireland 2023 earlier in the year, Layla is set to represent the country in Miss Earth World at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on Friday, December 22.

Along with Miss World, Miss Universe and Miss International, it is one of the biggest International beauty pageants in the world and is now the most relevant beauty event with nearly 100 countries taking part.

Layla, who is a student from Ballyliffin, wowed the judges with her beauty, however her personality and passion for the environment is what really won them over.

Thrilled to be crowned Miss Earth Ireland, Layla was more thrilled her voice was heard and that something positive came from speaking about defective blocks.

Living in a house that is crumbling around her, Layla used her platform to raise awareness of the situation in Donegal.

Now taking the issue to the world stage, Layla said she will be giving everything 150 per cent.

“I am so ready for this,” she said.
