Irish Olympic relay star Kelly McGrory is set to receive a warm homecoming in Donegal today.
The Tir Chonaill athlete delivered an outstanding performance in the 4×400 meters relay at the Paris Olympics, where Ireland narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing just shy of bronze.
Kelly played a pivotal role in the heats, running the race of her life to help secure Ireland’s place in the final.
She will be welcomed back to Donegal Town at 5 p.m. today, with a reception at the Abbey Vocational School. The community is invited to join in the celebration.
Raphoe will host a special homecoming celebration for Olympian Rachael Darragh this Friday, August 16th, at 8 p.m.
The community is invited to gather at the Raphoe Badminton Club in The Diamond to welcome Rachael back after her outstanding performance in Paris.
The town is incredibly proud of her achievements over the past three years.
Everyone is encouraged to bring flags, banners, and posters to show their support for Rachael as she returns to her hometown.
In addition, Finn Valley AC will host an event in honour of 800m semi-finalist Mark English in Stranorlar on Saturday, August 17th, at 2 p.m.
Everyone is encouraged to attend and celebrate the achievements of this talented athlete.
Overall, six representatives from Donegal contributed to Team Ireland’s remarkable Olympic campaign, marking a proud moment for the region.
