After a week of unpredictable weather, including both storms and sightings of the northern lights across the county, Donegal is set to enjoy a relatively calm and pleasant weekend.
According to Met Éireann, the next couple of days will be mostly dry conditions and sunny spells.
On Friday, Donegal, like much of the country, will experience dry conditions with a mix of cloud and clear spells.
There is a possibility of some light showers, particularly in the northwest and west, but these are expected to be minimal.
The temperature will dip to between 8 and 13 degrees, with light to moderate southwesterly breezes, although it may feel a bit fresher in the northwest.
Looking ahead to Saturday, the day will start off on a cloudier note, with scattered light showers expected to spread across much of the county.
However, as the day progresses, the skies will begin to clear, especially in the east and south, where the best of the sunny spells are expected in the afternoon.
Temperatures will rise gradually, peaking at around 17 degrees between 2 pm and 5 pm.
On Saturday night, Donegal can expect a mostly dry evening with temperatures settling at around 16 degrees.
There might be a few lingering light showers, particularly in the north and along the coast, but these will be brief.
The night will see a mix of cloud and clear spells, with temperatures dropping to between 9 and 13 degrees. The winds will remain moderate, with a fresher feel near the northern and western coasts.
Overall, this weekend promises to be a significant improvement over the turbulent weather Donegal experienced earlier in the week.
