Donegal upgraded to Red Alert weather warning for weekend

Donegal County Council is urging members of the public to take extra care over the next 36 hours on foot of a severe weather warning issued by Met Eireann earlier today.

Met Eireann has issued a level Red warning for Connaught, Donegal, Clare and Kerry valid from Friday evening at 6pm through to Sunday morning at 3am. Met Eireann is forecasting incessant falls of heavy rain overnight and for all of Saturday, predicting accumulations in excess of 70mm with greater totals on higher ground.

Members of the public are being asked to exercise caution particularly in areas susceptible to flooding, to take extra care on the roads and to allow more time for journeys.
