THE KENNEDY Cup is a renowned football tournament in Ireland and the Donegal Under 14 side are eagerly awaiting the chance to display their skills in Limerick next week.
Many Irish senior internationals cut their teeth in the Kennedy Cup as have League of Ireland stars.
For others, the Kennedy Cup will be the peak to what they achieve in football, but no-one will be looking too far down the line next week. The chief aim is to lead their county to glory.
Chris Dunnion is the Head Coach of the Donegal Underage League team this year and he says the excitement is building as they gear up for Sunday’s departure.
“It’s a great platform for the boys to show what they can do.
“We have been saying to them that it’s a one-off. They will never get the chance to play in the Kennedy Cup again so we want them to go and grasp the opportunity.
“Who knows one or two might be spotted and go on to bigger and better things but hopefully everyone enjoys the week.”
