Donegal U20s beaten by Derry in season opener

Derry 1-14 Donegal 0-12

The Donegal Under 20 team were beaten by Derry in their season opener at Owenbeg today.

Leo McLoone’s Donegal started the game well and were 0-4 to 0-2 up after eight minutes.

However, Derry took over in the second quarter and they led by 0-9 to 0-5 at the break.

Daniel Marley kicked the first point after the resumption but a Charlie Diamond goal saw Derry push clear.

Good scores from Shaun Ward, Daniel Marley and Karl Magee helped Donegal to get back to within three with six minutes to go.

However, they could get no closer than that and Derry scored the final two points as they claimed a deserved victory.
