THREE fundraising friends have completed a 3,700km trek that took them from Malin Head to Mizen Head, across the Irish Sea, and then from Land’s End to John O’Groats in Scotland.
Leslie O’Donnell, Denis Ferry, and Lee Gooch, set off in the early hours of Friday morning and returned on Sunday evening, spending over 60 hours on the road.
The mammoth journey, completed in just three days, was undertaken to raise funds for Zach McCrossan and Cassie Sheridan, who are both undergoing treatment for leukaemia in the Netherlands.
A large crowd gathered in Creeslough to welcome them home on Sunday afternoon.
Speaking on their return, Highland Radio presenter Lee shared stories from the road, from losing a front light on their 28-year-old Mercedes during the first leg of the trip, to the many Donegal faces they encountered along the way.
He also spoke of the importance of fundraising for supporting such an important cause.
As of yesterday afternoon, the online fundraiser had reached just under €13,000, with thousands more collected in donations throughout their journey.
The online fundraiser is still open for those who wish to make a donation.
