Donegal Tourism to hold seminar for county event organisers

Donegal Tourism, the tourism arm of Donegal County Council with responsibility for the promotion of the county across the globe, will hold a seminar aimed at those organising events and festivals this year, on Wednesday at the Silver Tassie Hotel in Letterkenny at 10:30am.

Attendees of “Beyond the Stage – Insider Insights for Festival and Event Organisers” will come away with practical tips on running their festival or event from a range of industry speakers including Colm Croffy from AOIFE (Association of Irish Festivals and Events) as well as representatives from Failte Ireland and Donegal County Council who will offer advice on funding opportunities to give that much needed financial injection into their project.

Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council, Cllr Martin Harley believes it’s a great opportunity for organisers of events up and down the county to meet their peers and gain some useful insights ‘the lineup of speakers on the day is varied from different types of events that take place all over Donegal. Each will come with their own unique take on their festival and will offer some tips and tricks that everyone can take home and start using on their own event.’

A panel discussion “The Ups and Downs of Festival Management” will be a lively conversation with organisers from Sea Sessions, Arranmore Festival & the Ballyshannon Folk & Traditional Music Festival as well as AOIFE talking about their experiences over the years. This will include a Q&A session.

Finally one to one clinics (bookable in 10 minute slots) will be available with Colm Croffy (AOIFE), Mary Daly (Donegal Tourism/Ballyshannon Folk Fest), Marion Callaghan (Donegal County Council) and Joan Crawford (Failte Ireland) where attendees can talk about festival issues and have their questions answered in relation to logistics, advice and funding.

The day will end off with a networking lunch where there will be a chance to meet with other festival and event organisers from around the county.

Tickets for this seminar are free but limited and available now from Eventbrite.
