Donegal to remain “very cold” with more snow expected

MET Éireann warns that weather in Donegal is going to remain “very cold” for the next couple of days with further sleet and snow showers expected.

Snow is expected to continue to accumulate with a few centimetres of snow expected at lower levels and between 5-10 centimetres of snow expected on higher ground.

Overnight both hard frost and icy stretches are expected, in addition to freezing fog and icy temperatures of -4 or -5 degrees.

Tomorrow

Temperatures are set to remain in the low single figures tomorrow.

A strong wind-chill will also cause the air to feel “much colder”, a forecaster with MET Éireann told the Donegal News.

However showers are expected to become more isolated and “more sleety” tomorrow evening.

The rest of the week

The weather forecast for Thursday is largely dry with some winter sunshine, but then it turns more unsettled during Friday when more sleet or wet snow is expected.

The weather forecast for the weekend is set to be milder but still “quite changeable”, the forecaster added.
