A TOTAL of €61,420 has been allocated to Donegal in Health Lottery grants.

Minister Joe McHugh T.D., commenting on the announcement stated: “I welcome today’s announcement that over €60,000 in lottery grants has been confirmed for Donegal by the Minister for Health, Leo Varadkar.

“I would like to congratulate the clubs and organisations that were successful in their application for funding, the process in applying for these grants can be extremely detailed and there are restricted funds available so unfortunately not everyone who applies is successful.

“I would like to give special acknowledgment to the Good Morning Donegal Service, based in Buncrana, who are to receive €45,000. I know first-hand how hard they worked on their submission and the befriending service project they are set to roll out should have a tremendously positive impact in the area.

“I am very pleased to see that smaller organisations and groups who have such a large impact on their communities are being recognised but much more funding is needed to help support groups who have struggled through some of the most difficult financial times and managed to continue providing a vital service to their towns and communities.”
