Donegal to escape worst of weather warnings but rainy days still ahead

While Donegal is set to dodge the brunt of the severe weather currently sweeping across the country, we are still in for a few damp days ahead.

A series of Status Orange and Yellow rain warnings have been issued for several southern counties today and tomorrow, with Met Éireann predicting the heaviest downpours and potential flooding in those regions.

Fortunately, Donegal will not be under these warnings, but the county will still experience unsettled conditions and periods of rain.

According to Met Éireann, Donegal will start the day mostly dry but cloudy. However, as the afternoon progresses, rain will develop across the region, adding to the wet and windy conditions expected over much of the country.

The national forecast warns that rain will be most intense in the south and southeast, where localised flooding is likely.

The rain will become more scattered and light as the evening rolls on. Donegal can expect mainly dry conditions for a time overnight, though more showers are forecast to arrive from the west and northwest by the early hours of Monday morning.

Looking ahead to tomorrow, the weather remains unsettled. Cloudy skies and outbreaks of drizzle will dominate the day.
