They battled gallantly for the next 15 minutes, but they couldn’t live with Donegal and in particular Michael Langan who kicked six points in the first half.

Declan Bonner’s team led by 0-10 to 0-6 at half-time, and they pushed that out to six points three minutes after the restart.

The home side continued to dominate in the second half and Jamie Brennan scored a fine goal in the 58th minute.

Kevin Tierney did score a late three-pointer for Cavan, but Donegal were deserving winners and they are through to Sunday’s semi-final.
