Pat the Cope Gallagher TD has welcomed €1.92 million in funding from the 2025 Shared Island Civic Society Fund, part of a €6 million initiative over three years.
The Shared Island Civic Society Fund supports practical North-South cooperation and engagement between grassroots community organisations across a wide range of sectors, in line with the objectives and commitments of the Good Friday Agreement.
The 2025 funding will support 64 community-based, cross-border projects across the island of Ireland, including a strong cohort involving Donegal communities, highlighting the county’s continued leadership in cross-border cooperation, culture, youth engagement and community development.
Projects involving Donegal to receive funding include:
- Cultúrlann Caisleán Ruairí, with partners An Chrannóg cultural and language centre in Gaoth Dobhair and Scoil na Crannóige – Ceoldrama na nÓg (€50,000)the
- Comharchumann Forbartha Ghaoth Dobhair, with Coiste Forbartha Charn Tochair and Robert Emmetts, Slaughtneil – Ag Fás le Chéile (€31,000)
- Accidental Theatre, with An Grianán Theatre – Shared Cultures: Northern Borders (€45,000)
- Donegal Railway Restoration CLG (Donegal Railway Heritage Museum), with Alley Arts and Cultural Centre, Strabane – Reconnecting Through Culture (€7,200)
- Dumbworld Ltd, with Regional Cultural Centre, Letterkenny – Film Scoring School (€38,945)
- Enterprise Causeway Ltd, with Taste Causeway CIC – Shared Tables: The Donegal–Derry–Causeway Civic Alliance (€44,750)
- Enterprise North West Ltd, with Inishowen Development Partnership – Cross-Border Community Wealth and Resilience Project (€29,760)
- Politics in Action, involving Loreto Community School, Milford and The Royal and Prior School, Raphoe – Teaching Politics Together (€10,000)
- Road Victim Support NI Donegal, with Donegal Youth Service – Drive to Arrive (€10,000)
