A donation of €1,410 has been presented to the Irish Heart Foundation, courtesy of Donegal swimmers who braved the chilly waters of eight separate beaches across the county on a single day.
As part of the ‘Christmas Cracker Dip tour’, 17 swimmers plunged into the sea at Rathmullan, Kinnegar, Ballymastocker and Magherawarden (Portsalon), Downings, Killahoey, Portnablagh, and Marble Hill.
Their efforts were not only a testament to their adventurous spirit but also a means of raising funds for two important causes: the Irish Heart Foundation and the Donegal Domestic Violence Service.
Teresa McDaid from Ramelton was handed the cheque on behalf of the Irish Heart Foundation this week. Teresa’s acceptance of the donation holds special significance as she herself has undergone life-saving heart surgery, highlighting the importance of the foundation’s work in supporting individuals affected by heart-related health issues.
